Mehmet Altıparmak (born May 1, 1969 in Ankara ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach .

Player career

Altıparmak began his professional career in 1989 with the first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . During his first season he played sporadically and gained a regular place towards the end of the season. In the next three seasons he was a permanent member of the team. He started the 1993/94 season at Gençlerbirliği, but was loaned to city rivals and then second division team Petrol Ofisi SK in October 1993 until the end of the season. At Petrol Ofisi, he made the leap into the starting eleven straight away. So he completed 29 league games by the end of the season, in which he scored twelve goals as a midfielder. With this performance he played a major role in the fact that his club reached the second division championship and so for the first time in the club's history rose to the top Turkish league, the first league.

After this success with Petrol Ofisi, he did not stay with this club, but switched to co-promoted Denizlispor . He played at this club for the next two years and was one of the top performers on his team during this time.

In the summer of 1996, when his contract expired at Denizlispor, he moved to the ambitious league rivals Bursaspor . With this club he only completed the pre-season camp and was then loaned to the second division Eskişehirspor . After spending a season at this club, he returned to Bursaspor. Here he did not stay for the upcoming season, but moved to the first division newcomer Ankara Şekerspor . At this club he played a season and left the club after it missed relegation.

For the 1998/99 season he moved to the 2nd Lig to his old club Denizlispor . With this club they celebrated the runner-up in the 2nd Lig at the end of the season and thus the direct promotion to the 1st Lig . Altıparmak was one of the team's top performers and with 13 goals in 32 league games played a key role in this success. After this success, Altıparmak stayed with Denizlispor, but did not appear in the first half of the season.

After Altıparmak was no longer used at Denizlispor, he accepted the offer from the second division Diyarbakırspor and played until the end of the season as a loaner for this club. With this club you missed direct promotion to the 1st Lig and qualified for the playoffs of the 2nd Lig, in which the last and third promoted was played indirectly. The team reached the play-off final and lost here 0-2 in extra time to Çaykur Rizespor .

For the new season he remained free after the contract expiry at Denizlispor and moved to the second division side Elazığspor without a break . At this club, too, he immediately made the leap into the starting eleven and subsequently promoted to the leading player. After the promotion to the Süper Lig failed in his first season at Elazığspor , they reached in the second season, the 2001/02 season , the runner-up in the 2nd Lig Aategorisi and direct promotion to the top Turkish league. Altıparmak played a key role in this success with his templates and his 17 goals in 38 league matches. After promotion to the Süper Lig, he lost his regular seat and left the club in winter 2002.

The following one and a half seasons he played for half a season in turn for Sakaryaspor , Dardanelspor and Yimpaş Yozgatspor .

After he had spent the 2004/05 season at the third division Şanlıurfaspor , he moved to his old club Etimesgut Şekerspor in the summer of 2005 . With this club he celebrated the championship of the TFF 3rd Lig at the end of the season and thus promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig . After this success he ended his active football career.

Coaching career

At the end of his active football career, he decided to pursue a career as a coach and took on the post of assistant coach at the then second division Kocaelispor as his first activity . Here he assisted the head coach Ümit Kayıhan , with whom he had already worked during his season at Denizlispor .

In March 2007 he left Kocaelispor and immediately took over as his first head coach for the Istanbul third division club Kartalspor . This club, located on the penultimate place in the table, he led in the remaining game days to the runner-up in the third division season 2006/07 and thus to direct promotion to the TFF 1. Lig . Promoted to the 1st Lig with Kartalspor, he and his team became the surprise team of the first half of the season. So they finished the first half of the season in third place in the table with only one point difference to the first-placed Sakaryaspor . In the second half of the season they stayed behind the performances of the first half of the season and ended the league in 13th place in the table. The first half of the second division season 2008/09 was Altıparmak with his team always in the top third of the table and finished the first half of the table in seventh place. Despite this good placement, he split from Kartalspor during the winter break and was replaced a little later by Tolgay Kerimoğlu .

After separating from Kartalspor, Altıparmak remained unemployed for three months and took over third division club Tarsus İdman Yurdu in March 2009 . He led this club into the playoffs of the TFF 2nd Lig , in which the third and last climber was determined by the knockout system . In the playoffs they reached the final, but missed promotion to the TFF 1st Lig due to a 5-0 defeat against Dardanelspor . With this failure in the playoff final Altıparmak left Tarsus İdman Yurdu.

In the new season he started without activity and took over the third division Konya Şekerspor at the end of October 2009 . After he had missed promotion to the 1st Lig with this club, he also looked after the club for the new season. In the new season he delivered a neck and neck race with Elazığspor and finished the first half of the season as the fall runner-up. After his club lost at the beginning of the second half of the season with two defeats in a row to the league leaders Elazığspor, Altıparmak resigned from his position.

Before the 30th match day of the 2010/11 second division season , he took over the traditional club Altay Izmir, which was in danger of relegation . In the remaining four game days he collected four points with Altay and missed relegation. Despite missing relegation, he stayed with Altay for the coming season. He looked after Altay until matchday 11 and then surprisingly resigned from his position.

One year after leaving Altay Izmir, he took over third division team Malatyaspor at the end of November 2012 . He looked after this club until matchday 21 and then resigned from his position.

After being out of work for about a month, he took over the relegation-threatened second division Kartalspor, the club that he had led into the TFF 1. Lig six years ago . In the remaining six match days Altıparmak brought his team four wins and two defeats and thus ensured that the team retained the chance of relegation until the last day of the game. The team suffered a setback in the relegation battle due to the 0-2 away defeat on the penultimate matchday against the direct relegation competitor Tavşanlı Linyitspor . On the last day of the match the match against Karşıyaka SK was won, but Tavşanlı Linyitspor also won. So Kartalspor missed relegation on the last match day. After relegation Altıparmak left the club.

For the new season Altıparmak took over the southern Turkish third division club Alanyaspor . With this club Altıparmak fought over the entire season with Altınordu Izmir for the championship lead. After Altınordu broke away from his pursuers towards the end of the season and secured the championship on the penultimate game day by a nine point difference, Alanyaspor was runner-up and qualified for the play-offs. In the play-off phase, Altıparmak's team eliminated Diyarbakır Büyükşehir Belediyespor and MKE Ankaragücü one after the other . In the play-off final, they won 4: 3 on penalties against Hatayspor and so returned to the TFF 1st Lig after 17 years of abstinence . At the beginning of December 2014, he resigned from his position.

In February 2015 he signed with the relegation-threatened club Denizlispor until the end of the season and replaced the resigned Engin İpekoğlu . Altıparmak prevented the already believed relegation and held the class with important victories. The following 2015/16 season started rather moderately for him and the team, as after eleven match days they could only prove eight points and were therefore on the penultimate place in the table. It was agreed with the board of directors to terminate the contract early.

In May 2016 he was hired as the new head coach at the new second division club Manisaspor . However, since he could not agree on some issues with the club's management, he resigned from his position in August 2016.

At the end of April 2017, he was hired as the new head coach at third division Gümüşhanespor . Altıparmak led this club to the final of the play-offs of the TFF 2. Lig , defeated with this in the final Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor with 0: 1 and just missed promotion to the TFF 1. Lig . Despite this success, both parties did not continue to work together. Altıparmak then took over the second division side Elazığspor for the season . He left this club in early November 2017 and a few days later took over the league rivals Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor. He led this club into the play-off final of the TFF 1. Lig and sat in this with 4-5 on penalties against Gazişehir Gaziantep FK and thus ensured the first league promotion in the club's history. After the promotion, BB Erzurumspor started the season with Altıparmak, but terminated the contract after about 6 weeks after mutual agreement.

After about two weeks of unemployment, he was hired as the new head coach at Gazişehir Gaziantep FK in mid-October 2018. He also led this club at the end of the season to the play-off victory of the TFF 1st Lig and thus to the promotion of the first division, the first in the club's history. Despite this success, he was unable to agree on any contract extension with his club. At the end of June 2019, he took over the second division Akhisarspor instead .
