The Bank Asya 1. Lig 2008/09 was the 46th season of the second highest Turkish league for professional men's soccer. The relegated from the Turkcell Süper Lig this season were Manisaspor , Çaykur Rizespor and Kasımpaşa Istanbul . Adanaspor , Kardemir Karabükspor and Güngören Belediyespor were promoted from the 3rd division . The season started on August 30, 2008 and ended with the play-off final on May 17, 2009 in Ankara .

On the 33rd match day, Manisaspor and Diyarbakırspor were the direct promoters for the Turkcell Süper Lig . In a direct duel a 1-1 draw was enough and Manisaspor managed to return to the Turkcell Süper Lig after just one season. On the same day, the relegation of Malatyaspor was sealed with a 2-0 defeat at Kartalspor . Boluspor , Kasımpaşa Istanbul , Altay İzmir and Karşıyaka SK qualified for the play-offs on this match day . In the final for the last promotion place, Kasımpaşa defeated Karşıyaka SK 2-1 after extra time and returns to the Turkcell Süper Lig after just one year.

On the last day of the game, the relegation for Sakaryaspor and Güngören Belediyespor was certain. Sakaryaspor could no longer hold the class despite a 1-0 win against Kasımpaşa Istanbul . Samsunspor was better than Sakaryaspor in direct comparison.

    Through the play-offs, the third climber for the Turkcell Süper Lig was determined. The semi-finals took place on May 15, 2009. The final for the last promotion place took place on May 17, 2009. All games were played at Yenikent Asaş Stadı in Ankara .
