The Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi 1987/88 was the 25th season of the second highest Turkish league in professional men's football. It was started on August 15, 1987 with the 1st game day and ended on May 29, 1988 with the 34th and final game day.

In the 1987/88 season, the TFF 1st Lig was divided into three groups as in the previous season. There are 18 teams playing in the "Group A" (A Grubu), and 17 teams each in the "Group B" (B Grubu) and "Group C" (C Grubu) for promotion to the Süper Lig or against relegation in the then third-class TFF 3rd Lig . In contrast to the previous season, the total number of teams is reduced by one team. In addition, the 3-point rule (three points for a win) was introduced.

The top of the table in all three groups go straight to the higher Süper Lig . The teams in the last four places in the table in group A and those in the last three places in the table in groups B and C are relegated to the TFF 3rd Lig.

At the start of the season, the two relegated teams from the previous season are the two relegated teams from the Süper Lig Antalyaspor , Diyarbakırspor and the ten promoted teams from the then third-class TFF 3rd Lig Bitlisspor , Niğdespor , Bartınspor , Ispartaspor , Menemenspor , Uşakspor , Kütahyaspor , Eyüpspor , Zeytinburnuspor , Trabzonspor (B) and Ünyespor have been added.

Adanaspor reached the group A championship several weeks before the official end of the season and thus rose again to the Süper Lig after a four-year absence. In Group B Kahramanmaraşspor reached the championship and rose for the first time in the club's history in the top Turkish league. Konyaspor reached the Group C championship several weeks before the official end of the season and rose like Kahramanmaraşspor for the first time in the Süper Lig.

End of the season are selected from the group A , the teams MKE Kirikkalespor , Niğdespor , Bayburtspor from the group B , the teams tarsus İdman Yurdu , Usakspor , Ünyespor and from the group C teams Izmirspor , Fatih Karagümrük SK , Kirklarelispor dismounted.

The association Beykoz Gençlik Kulübü shortly Beykozspor changed, before this season his name in Sümerbank Beykoz Spor Kulübü , briefly Sümerbank Beykozspor to.

Mehmet Özdilek from the east Turkish representative Kahramanmaraşspor and Hakan from the west Turkish representative İnegölspor shared the top scorer crown of the entire league and group B with 26 goals . In the group A were incubated with 20 hits Çetin Anda of Erzurumspor scorer, while in group C Ertan Sözmener of Kusadasispor was charged with 19 scorer.
