Linda Kelsey

Linda Kelsey (born July 28, 1946 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American actress .

Life

Kelsey began her career in the early 1970s. She made her film debut in the television film The Picture of Dorian Gray , which was based on the novel of the same name by Oscar Wilde , and subsequently had guest roles in television series such as Detective Rockford - a call is enough , M * A * S * H and Starsky & Hutch .

She gained fame among the US television audience from 1977 through her role as Billie Newman in the television series Lou Grant , which she played in 111 episodes until 1982. She was nominated for an Emmy five years in a row for her portrayal, but she never received it. She was also nominated three times in a row for the Golden Globe and won the award once. After the series was canceled, she could not continue her success and played only minor roles in television productions for several years.

Between 1988 and 1989 she played the lead role in 33 episodes in the sitcom Day by Day , but this was discontinued after the second season.

Kelsey was married to Glenn Strand, with whom she also has two children.
