The TFF 1. Lig 2011/12 was the 49th season of the second highest Turkish league in men's football. It began on September 9, 2011 and ended on May 13, 2012 with the 34th matchday. On May 27, 2012, the 2011/12 season ends with the play-off games between the third to sixth place.

Attendees

At the beginning of the season , the three relegated teams from the first-class Süper Lig Bucaspor , Konyaspor , Kasımpaşa Istanbul and the three promoted teams from the third-rate TFF 2. Lig Elazığspor , Göztepe Izmir , Sakaryaspor were added to the twelve teams remaining from the previous season .

The first division relegated Kasımpaşa SK returned to the first league after two years of membership in the first division, while Konyaspor after seven years and Bucaspor after one year of membership in the first division again participated in the second highest Turkish division. The promoted Elazığspor returned to the TFF 1st Lig after 24 years, Sakaryaspor after two years and Göztep Izmir after eight years of abstinence.

Special occurrences

  • On June 29, 2011, the Turkish Football Association decided that Ankaraspor could compete again one year after being expelled from the Bank Asya 1. Lig. The plan was to hold 19 teams in the 2011/12 season, but Ankaraspor withdrew its participation before the game plan was drawn.
  • At the start of the season, the Güngören Belediyespor club changed its name to Istanbul Güngörenspor .
