Sait Karafırtınalar (born June 1, 1969 in Izmir ) is a former Turkish soccer player and current soccer coach.

Player career

Karafırtınalar was born in Izmir in 1969 and started playing club football in the youth of Bucaspor . In the eighties he was accepted into the professional team and worked for them until the end of the 1993/94 season.

He then moved to Turgutluspor . After a year at Turgutluspor, he played for about ten seasons with various clubs in the Aegean region in the lower Turkish leagues and ended his active career in the summer of 2002.

Coaching career

After his active career, he decided to become a football coach. He first worked as a junior coach at Bucaspor from summer 2003 . He then took over as head coach Denizli Belediyespor in summer 2005 . In the following years he worked as a junior and assistant coach at Bucaspor. Only in 2010 did he take over the position of assistant coach at Göztepe Izmir at short notice .

On April 14, 2011 he was introduced as the new head coach at Bucaspor, which was threatened with relegation, and replaced the resigned Samet Aybaba . He took over the club in the relegation ranks and managed that the club had hopes of relegation until the last day of the game.

In the TFF-1. Lig season 2011/12 , he finished twelfth place in the table with his team. During the season he was able to help many young players such as Salih Uçan , Abdulkadir Özgen , Emre Güral and Efe Özarslan to their breakthroughs. At the end of the season, these players could be profitably sold to various Süper Lig clubs. On June 20, 2013, Karafırtınalar announced his resignation. A few weeks after his resignation, his contract with Bucaspor was terminated. After this contract termination he signed a three-year contract with city and league rivals Karşıyaka SK . At the end of December 2013, he separated from this association by mutual agreement.

In the summer of 2014 he took over his previous club Bucaspor as head coach. For the second half of the season he resigned from his position and was replaced by his predecessor Mustafa Bahadır .

In March 2016 he took over the relegation-threatened second division club Kayseri Erciyesspor , missed relegation with him and then separated from it. In October 2016 he was hired as the new head coach at Manisaspor . He trained this club until October 2017 and took over league rivals Boluspor a few weeks after he left .
