Despite the mediocre commercial success of its predecessor Bongo Girl from 1992 and the associated loss of the record contract with Epic Records , the album was recorded with the same core line-up. In addition to Rolf Brendel and Frank Becking , Carlo Karges , Mary Applegate and Thommie Bayer strengthened the composing team. Even Jürgen Dehmel was engaged on bass again. Curt Cress on drums and the session musicians Marcus Deml and Gustl Lütjens on guitar and Andreas Lucas, Carmelo Mafali, Karo Straub and Tommy Schmidt on keyboards are included as additional musicians on the album. The album was recorded at Dolphin Studio in Mörfelden, produced by Gunther Mende and published by RMG. It is Nena's only studio album with this small German record company by Bernd Reisig , where Thommie Bayer also released albums. Further albums appeared after a new record deal with the music label Polydor .
reception
Alan Severa from Allmusic awarded three out of five stars. Despite the accumulation of former companions of the Nena band, he does not see a band revival in the album . The light atmosphere on Bongo Girl gives way to a calm feeling of melancholy ("the lightweight atmosphere of her previous album, Bongo Girl, is followed by a calm sense of melancholy").
