review

Claudia Nitsche heard the album for the Weser-Kurier and judged: “She is seldom cheeky, rather deliberate and sometimes sad. While "In the Middle Kingdom" still sounds oriental and dreamy, a title like "Butterfly" is really kitschy. [...] Nevertheless, it has to be recognized that "You are good" has become a multifaceted matter, the songs are unmistakably Nena, a fact that should be very accommodating to the fans. And as mentioned: Sometimes it sounds really good, the electronic title song is one of the bravest compositions. ”
Sabine Szimanski, who reviewed the album for Radio Bremen , wrote:“ The Neue Deutsche Welle can still be heard in her music. On the new album, the lightness and joie de vivre of a teenage girl as well as that of a thoughtful and wistful adult woman can be heard in 15 new songs. "
Ulf Kubanke from laut.de, on the other hand, could n't get much positive out of you are good :" Started as an interesting German post-punk with pop appeal, 32 years later belly landed as a musically arbitrary platitude collector. [...] Anyone who sees the admittedly cute cover in the store before buying it has already passed its artistic zenith. From a pop-industrial point of view, the production can definitely be seen as ripped off. A collection of half-baked hints and ideas that were already mutilated. Everything nicely integrated into Nena's shopping channel idea of sweet awakening spirituality. ”Kubanke awarded one of five possible stars for the album.
