Eisbrecher is the last studio album by the German pop group Nena . It was released on November 24, 1986. The singer Nena then started a solo career.

History of origin

Even before the recordings for the Eisbrecher album , the band Nena had separated from their manager Jim Rakete and also waived the support of the two spliff musicians Reinhold Heil and Manfred Praeker , who had previously taken care of the production and arrangement of the Nena albums. The band worked on this album with Alan Goldberg and Tom Muiel , and Klaus Voormann was hired, who produced the album together with the band. The recordings were made in Lark Studio in Italy and at Hartmann Digital in Untertrubach . Jürgen Koppers took care of the mix in the Paradise Studio in Munich.

The album was released on November 24, 1986. Half a year later the band broke up. The album was a failure compared to the band's previous three albums. While the previous three albums landed at number 1 and 2 in the German album charts, Eisbrecher only reached number 45.

The single releases were similarly unsuccessful, the first single Mondsong only reached number 37 in the German single charts, the second single Engel der Nacht , which was released in 1987, even missed the charts completely. In the same year, just a few months later, the band split.
