Jürgen Dehmel (born August 12, 1958 ) is a German musician who became known in the 1980s as the bass player for the band Nena .

life and career

Jürgen Dehmel was initially a member of a short-lived group called “Odessa” together with Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen , whom he met while working together as a salesperson. Dehmel formed around 1982 in West Berlin with the other four members Fahrenkrog-Petersen, Gabriele Susanne Kerner alias Nena , Carlo Karges and Rolf Brendel to form the music group Nena . Fahrenkrog-Petersen had previously recommended Dehmel to the other band members. The band celebrated numerous successes in the following years and Dehmel remained a member until they broke up in 1986.

Dehmel continued his collaboration with some of the former members even after the band ended. For example, he co-wrote about half of the songs for Nena's 1989 album Wunder gescheh'n - including the title song. He was also the co-producer of Fahrenkrog-Petersen's first album Atlantis (Terra X) from 1988. He also wrote several songs for the singer Tinka Milinović . Since 2017 he has been the bass player for the Berlin rock group Zwanzich 15 .
