- Emergence
In 2010 Nena recorded the house of three suns for her compilation Best of Nena . For the new recording she got support from the former Wolfsheim singer Peter Heppner , who was also responsible for the production of the new recording. The idea for the two to work together came from Nena. When the request came, Heppner was of the opinion that he didn't want to do that. The reason was that he wasn't a guest singer who couldn't get involved in projects with the lyrics. He must bring his own musical work with him. After some deliberation, he came to the conclusion that with a “caliber” like Nena you couldn't just say no. Then he thought about it again and thought for himself, if he could change that completely so that it corresponds to his ideas, then he could say again that he had made his music and then he would also find it good that that as Make project.
- Publication and promotion
The piece was released as the first single from Best of Nena on November 5, 2010 in Germany and a short time later in Austria and Switzerland. In addition to the radio version of Haus der Drei Sonnen, the maxi single contains the song In my Life - which was released six months earlier as an independent single from the previous studio album Made in Germany - and the music video for Haus der Drei Sonnen as B-side . In the music video, Nena and Heppner sing the song together on a beach promenade . Directed by Marcus Sternberg . In order to promote the song, there was a live appearance in prime time at the Popstars Finale 2010 on ProSieben .
