background information

When in gold it is not a conventional single release, but a music project, accompanied by the German Red Cross . The cooperation of all parties took place under the motto Music can do more . Together they wanted to try with the song to draw attention to the suffering of war victims and to help needy children in Afghanistan . Part of the proceeds from the single sale went to the German Red Cross (DRK) as a donation .

The idea for this piece came from Milù. After her first chart success with Liebe a year earlier (in collaboration with the German music project Schiller ), she went on a tour of Germany. During this tour she got to know Heppner and Sanders, whom she was able to convince of their song ( For me you are made of gold ) and a collaboration. Most of the song was retained in the cover version Aus Gold , only the last stanza was rewritten by Heppner.

Heppner and Sanders later worked together again. It was planned that Heppner would write a song for another artist for the first time, in this case Sanders. Ultimately, the two recorded the song Desserve to Be Alone together for Heppner's second studio album, My Heart of Stone .

content

The lyrics to Aus Gold are written in German. The music was written by Milù and Riegner, the text by Heppner (3rd stanza) and Milù. Musically, the song moves in the field of synth pop . The tempo is 130 beats per minute . Dirk Riegner and especially the cello B. Deutung can be heard as instrumentalists . The song begins with the first verse and the first chorus , which are sung by Milù alone. The second stanza is sung by Sanders, the following chorus is sung by Milù and Sanders. The same principle follows in the third verse, this is sung by Heppner and the following refrain is sung by all three together.

“No miracle is more cruel than this.
Because I don't know how you laugh,
I don't know how you cry, how you smell, how you speak.
To me you are made of gold
For me you are made of gold. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

With the song, the three performers wanted to express that music not only has to be entertaining at all times, but that it can also deal with social and political issues. The three musicians wanted to draw attention to the suffering of innocent children. The song looks at the death of a child in war from different angles . Milù describes the situation from the point of view of a grieving mother who has lost her child, Sanders is the distant observer and Heppner from the point of view of a soldier who has killed. In an interview, Milù said the following about the content of the song: “We cannot change the world, but we can make people aware of the cruelty of war. Our unmistakable statement against war and for respect for life is made of gold . "
