Kim Sanders (born October 24, 1968 in East Chicago, Indiana ) is an American singer and composer who has lived in Germany since 1989. During the 1990s and 2000s she appeared in various dance floor productions, including Culture Beat , Captain Hollywood Project , Loft , Schiller and Karl Keaton .

Life

Kim Sanders was abused many times in her early childhood by her stepfather , about whom she later reported:

“My stepfather was a very mean, cold and scary man. His very presence caused horror, his punishments were inhuman. "

As a result, Sanders also suffered from depression , anorexia and school problems.

During her time in high school , Sanders starred in various musicals. She began to sing professionally at the age of 15 and wrote her first own songs at the age of 17. She supervised the US youth television show UpBeat for a year before moving with her mother and siblings from the United States to Heidelberg , Germany , in 1989 . Sanders initially worked on studio recordings where her voice was used as a second voice . The first well-known productions were Show Me with Torsten Fenslau , Hold On with Loft and Impossible with Captain Hollywood Project . In 1993 the singer made it into the German single charts for nine weeks with her single Show Me . In 1994 she made it into the German charts again with Ride and stayed there for two weeks. From 1998 to 1999 she was the front singer at Culture Beat , for which she sang the titles Pay No Mind and Rendez-Vous , among others . All of these productions are assigned to the music genre Eurodance .

Since 2000, Sanders has been a guest singer in the Schiller ambient project several times . She can be heard on several albums of the music project and also took part in the tours. She was able to land twice with Schiller chart hits. In 2004, Sanders recorded the title Aus Gold with Milú and Heppner . She also worked with producers and artists such as Nicola Conte and Till Brönner .

Her single Something About You , released in 2003, was unable to make it into the sales charts despite a lot of airplay because the record company made a mistake with the barcode.

In 2003 her first solo album Pretty on Edge was released , which was produced by Gerret Frerichs . She dedicated the song release on this album to singer Melanie Thornton, who died in 2001 .

In 2009 she recorded a title for his album Round Silence with the German jazz drummer Wolfgang Haffner : It's Not Safe , published by ACT Music.

In 2009 Sanders released her second solo album A Closer Look , which was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize in the “Black Music” category in spring 2010 . From the end of 2011 she took part in the German singing casting show The Voice of Germany , where she chose Nena’s team . On February 10, 2012, Sanders reached second place in the final.

In 2013 Kim Sanders moved to Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony . After becoming ambassador for the German Children's Association in 2017 , she decided to publish her song "Father", which she had already written in 2003 with her colleague Marcus Brosch, in which she took up the abuse she had suffered from her stepfather in her childhood.
