Captain Hollywood Project (2014)

The Captain Hollywood Project is a German dance floor -Formation in 1991 along with former Twenty-four-Seven - rappers and breakdance Artists Tony Dawson-Harrison aka Captain Hollywood was founded.

Emergence

Harrison, a captain in the United States Army , was stationed in Germany from 1980 to 1983 during his military service. Because of his tendency to dance in uniform, he was nicknamed "Captain Hollywood" by his comrades.

The German television program Formula One discovered Harrison in 1983 and introduced him as one of the first breakdance artists in Europe. It was followed by other television appearances on German television and u. a. as part of the Cannes International Film Festival at the premiere of the breakdance film Beat Street . Harrison also worked as a choreographer .

In 1987 Harrison released the single Debora / Streetjazz with TT Fresh . In 1988, Captain Hollywood & BPM's Tribute to James B. was the first release on Lutz Ludwig 's P1 Records label. A year later, the BCM label launched the title Grand Piano , produced by Daniele Davoli (aka DJ Lelewel), under the project name The Mixmaster . The single became a pan-European sales success. Harrison, however, had withdrawn from production in advance because he was not completely convinced of the quality.

In 1989 he founded the dance floor project Twenty 4 Seven with the Dutch producer Ruud van Rijen . The innovative concept of male rapper and female singer quickly made the group popular, the first two singles I Can't Stand It! and Are You Dreaming were able to successfully place themselves in the charts across Europe. After the release of the debut album Street Moves , which reached number 25 in Switzerland, Harrison left Twenty 4 Seven to concentrate on his solo career again.

In 1992 Harrison founded the Captain Hollywood Project, in which producers Thorsten Adler, Michael Eisele and Thomas Keil were involved. Numerous artists such as Kim Sanders , Lori Glori and Nina Gerhard worked on the studio productions . Petra Spiegel was the only studio singer who accompanied Harrison on live performances in the 1990s and on music videos. In the same year, Susanne Foecker was hired as a manager.

Publications

The Captain Hollywood Project had international success in 1992/1993 with the Eurodance singles More and More and Only with You . Both titles were big hits in Europe. The debut album Love Is Not Sex sold 400,000 copies in Europe. In addition to More and More and Only with You, it contained the extracts All I Want and Impossible .

1995 followed the release of the second album, Animals or Human . It wasn't as successful as the debut album, but it still sold 200,000 copies. Nina Gerhard left the group to pursue a solo career. She was replaced by Petra Spiegel. The album contained the three singles Flying High , Find Another Way and The Way Love Is .

In 1996 the third album The Afterparty came out, which was accompanied by a name change . The nickname "Project" was omitted and the group was now only called Captain Hollywood . The singles from it were Over and Over , Love and Pain and The Afterparty . Compared to the first two albums, The Afterparty and the accompanying singles were not much of a success.

Further development

Tony Dawson Harrison continued to work as a producer and in 2000, under the leadership of his then producer Simon N. Mass, produced three tracks for the Orlando group O-Town (MTV Casting Band) cast by music producer Lou Pearlman . Due to a long prison sentence for fraud on the part of producer Lou Pearlman, there were no further productions with this band. In 2001 Harrison left Germany. In 2003 he returned to Cologne and brought the boy band 3rd Wish with him. Harrison established the production company Skreem Records in Germany and headed its German agency (Cologne / Düsseldorf). At the same time he had with the title Axel F 2003 feat. Captain Hollywood a chart success.

Skreem Records was traded on the stock exchange under the symbol SKRM and was renamed Skreem Entertainment in 2006. Skreem Records owned a few parts (0.8%) Tony Harrison, but mostly the securities dealer Jeffrey Martin, father of boy group member Justin Martin.

From then on, Tony Harrison lived again in the USA in Orlando, Florida. In August 2007 Tony Harrison returned to Germany to get Justin Martin, the former singer of the group 3rd Wish, a record deal with Sony / BMG. Justin Martin now has his own production company and released a new single from 3rd Wish in mid-2011.
