Twenty 4 Seven is a Dutch dance floor duo that enjoyed success with a few titles in the early 1990s. The line-up of the band changed several times and currently consists of the rapper Stay-C and the singer Li-Ann. The producer is Ruud Van Rijen. The group's concept of combining a male rapper for the verse and a female voice for the choruses has been copied many times.

biography

The first single was I Can't Stand It! who, with the line-up of MC Fixx It (rapper for the verses) and Nance Coolen (sang the chorus), made it into the top 30 of the Dutch charts. A second version with Captain Hollywood as a rapper made it into various European charts in 1990, including the top 10 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and England. That meant the international breakthrough for Twenty 4 Seven.

The second single, Are You Dreaming , also with Captain Hollywood, was only in the top ten in Switzerland, but reached the top 20 in Germany and England as well as top 30 positions in Austria and the Netherlands. The accompanying album Street Moves became a chart success in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Then Captain Hollywood left the group and founded the Captain Hollywood Project .

In 1992 Twenty 4 Seven were revitalized with the single It Could Have Been You . Stay-C took over the rap parts, Nance Coolen remained the singer. The comeback came with the follow-up single Slave to the Music , which reached top 10 positions in 1993 in Germany and the Netherlands and the top 20 in Switzerland. With the following singles Is It Love (1993), Take Me Away or Leave Them Alone (both 1994) and the album Slave to the Music , Twenty 4 Seven was able to build on this success.

The third album I Wanna Show You and the singles Oh Baby! and Keep On Trying were no longer as popular as their predecessors. Nance Coolen then left the project and became a well-known TV presenter in the Netherlands, who presented the game show Lingo , for example . She also released solo singles such as B. Love Is .

Singer Stella took Coolen's place on Twenty 4 Seven. With her, however, the group received little attention. Only the single We Are The World was a small hit in the Netherlands. When Stella left the group in 1997, Stay-C continued the project as a soloist for a short time.

In October 2007 the single Like Flames was released with the singer Elle. In 2010 there was a comeback of Twenty 4 Seven for the singer Stay-C returned to the project, which has now been completed by the singer Li Ann.
