Entlebuch

The Battle of Sörenberg was an armed conflict between Obwalden and Entlebuch in what is now the canton of Lucerne in 1380 .

prehistory

Before 1300, Habsburg acquired the inner office of Wolhusen and the Entlebuch valley. In the course of the century the whole office was given out as a pledge.

Events

In 1380 there was a battle between Obwalden and Entlebuchers over the ownership of the alpine pastures there. The place of the meeting is the Alp «Schlacht» at the foot of the Brienzer Rothorn . The legend reports that invading Obwalden people plunged the herdsman into the hot bulkhead and killed him. Pfandherr Peter von Thorberg stopped the Obwalden advance across the watershed.

A legend from this time has a story to tell about a hero called «Windtrüeb». The memorial at the village bridge in Flühli and the memorial stone in the Krutacher remember him .

consequences

The dispute ended in a settlement in 1381 . The Entlebuch as land and the valley inhabitants as country people appear from 1381 . The Weibel appeared from 1382 . The Entlebuch then closed around 1385 / 1386 with the city of Lucerne , a castle law. The land came from the aristocracy under the rule of the city of Lucerne, which became final with the acquisition of the pledge in 1405 .
