Dominik Brun

Dominik Brun (born August 21, 1948 in Entlebuch ) is a Swiss writer and politician.

Life

Dominik Brun attended grammar school in Nuolen , where he passed his Matura . He then studied German and literature at the University of Bern . In 1975 he completed his studies with a degree . This was followed by stays abroad and teaching activities in London, Vienna and Montreal. From 1977 to 2010 he was a teacher at the grammar school in Engelberg . Between 1998 and 2007 he worked in the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Obwalden , and in 2006/07 he was President of the Cantonal Council . He has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Pro Senectute Obwalden since 2014 . Brun lives in Engelberg.

Dominik Brun is the author of narrative works, poems, dramas and radio plays; he partly writes in Swiss German .

Dominik Brun is a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland and of the Central Swiss Writers' Association , of which he was President from 1985 to 1997.

• 1978 recognition award from the city of Lucerne
• 1979 Literature Promotion Prize from Lucerne and the Canton of Lucerne
• 1981 Prize of the publisher at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt
• 1998 Central Switzerland Audience Award for Literature
• 2002 London working year of the Zug cultural foundation Landis & Gyr
• 2010 grant from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Culture

In addition to the works listed here in book form, Brun has published poems, children's and youth stories and short prose in various journals and anthologies as well as radio plays for the radio.
