The canton school Ausserschwyz KSA (formerly the canton school Pfäffikon & Nuolen KSPN) is a public secondary school in Pfäffikon SZ and Nuolen . The school has around 600 pupils who are taught by around 80 teachers. It is the only public secondary school in the Ausserschwyz and Einsiedeln region . The students come from all over the outer part of the canton and from neighboring areas of the cantons of Zurich , St. Gallen , etc. a. The KSA runs a short-term grammar school as well as a technical secondary school (FMS) in the professional field of education with a specialist Matura. At the grammar school, a mathematical-scientific and a linguistic profile as well as a bilingual Matura (English) are offered.

history

The Ausserschwyz Cantonal School emerged from the merger of two independent secondary schools, the Pfäffikon Cantonal School (since 1975) and the private Christkönig College Nuolen (founded in 1934).

The Ausserschwyz Cantonal School is headed by a rector, Dr. Martin von Ostheim, and three Vice Rectors, Christian Albrecht, Karin Thiele and Felix Rauchstein, as well as the administrator, Richard Carletti.

Location

The Ausserschwyz Cantonal School has school facilities in Pfäffikon (SZ) and Nuolen, with Pfäffikon being defined as the main location and Nuolen as the secondary location.

The school complex in Pfäffikon is close to the Alpamare and the Seedamm-Center . The next ZVV stop is the "Kantonsschulen" station on bus line 195. The KSA in Pfäffikon has a canteen , a media library, an auditorium, a large singing hall and three gyms, which it shares with the Pfäffikon vocational training center .

The school complex in Nuolen in the municipality of Wangen SZ is directly connected to Lake Zurich . It has a canteen, a media library, a gym and a large singing hall.

Free subjects

KSA pupils can choose from a wide range of optional subjects and acquire additional qualifications. The language diplomas Cambridge First, Cambridge Advanced, Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) and Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera (CILS) are offered for English, French and Italian. Music can be played in singing and instrumental lessons individually or in groups in a choir, orchestra, vocal ensemble and in a band. In sport, the spectrum ranges from climbing to personal training advice. There is also the option of registering in the math or German forum. The KSA has a theater course for keen actors.

KSA specialties

Occasions and camps

Every year there are special events, such as the «class day» and the study week. The theater is the culmination of each event, with the actors showing the school community what they have learned. There are also other annual events that are always well attended. In addition, there are trips and camps for the pupils (in winter e.g. the snow sports camp); in the 1st grade the home week or in the 4th grade the educational trip. KSA teams also regularly take part in various middle school championships and the Swiss Women's Run in Bern.
