Flanders / France
- March 1 : The Maillotins uprising against the government of the dukes breaks out in Paris . The insurgents plunder the town hall and various townhouses of wealthy citizens. Riots broke out in Rouen too. The notables can only end the uprising by paying a sum of money.
- May 2nd : An insurgent army of Flemish guilds from Ghent under Philipp van Artevelde defeats a Flemish army of knights under Ludwig II of Flanders . Bruges and Ypres then join the rebels. Ludwig is expelled from Flanders. With the support of his son-in-law Philip II of Burgundy , he seeks help in France.
- November 27 : The Flemish cities are defeated by King Charles VI in the Battle of Roosebeke . French army of knights sent out to support the future heir of Flanders, Philip II of Burgundy. Philipp van Artevelde is killed in the battle.
Iberian Peninsula
- After defeating the Portuguese fleet in the sea battle of Saltés in the middle of last year, Fernando Sánchez de Tovar sails with the Castilian fleet to Lisbon , which is besieged from land and sea in the third Ferdinandean War .
