  • 1958 : The underwater mountain Ripple Rock between Vancouver Island and the Canadian mainland, which has posed a constant threat to shipping, is blown up with 1,375 tons of explosives. It is one of the largest conventional demolitions in history.

1815: Estimated ash precipitation during the eruption
  • 1815 : The eruption of the Tambora volcano on Sumbawa in Indonesia, which lasts around 14 days, begins with a first eruption. More, especially on April 10, lead to a total of around 100,000 fatalities due to the outbreak and the subsequent tidal waves. The volcanic winter also leads to famine in Europe.

  • 1902 : In the Glasgow football stadium Ibrox Park, the first Ibrox disaster occurs when a wooden stand collapses during the international match between Scotland and England . There are 25 dead and 517 injured spectators. The stadium's capacity will then be temporarily reduced from 75,000 to 25,000 spectators.
