Manfred Strahl

Manfred Strahl (born April 5, 1940 in Stettin , † June 20, 2000 in Berlin ; full name Manfred Heinz Herbert Strahl ) was a German journalist , editor and writer.

Life

Manfred Strahl was born in 1940 as the youngest of three children: The eldest of the three brothers, Harry Strahl (1924–1945 (?)), Died in World War II . Rudi Strahl (1931–2001) became a well-known playwright in the GDR .

In 1947 his family had to leave Stettin and moved to Mühlhausen / Thuringia , where Strahl graduated from high school in 1959. Between 1961 and 1965 he studied economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin . A five-year editorial work at the FDGB daily newspaper Tribüne was followed by 20 years (until 1990) at the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel, which at that time still appeared weekly . After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Strahl worked as a freelance journalist and author, a VS member from 1992 . His satirical short prose, aphorisms and poems have been published in many daily and weekly newspapers.

Manfred Strahl died as a cyclist in an accident for which he was not responsible.
