Bent Åserud

Bent Åserud (born April 5, 1950 in Norway ) is a Norwegian composer .

Life

Together with Geir Bøhren , Øyvind Vilbo and Bjørn Sønstevold , Åserud founded his first band in 1966, Junipher Greene . They played progressive rock together and released two albums, Friendship (1971) and Communication (1974). He graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in 1977 with a degree in music. Before the band split up in 1983, two more albums were released with Rewind (1981) and Forbudte formiddagstoner (1982). She has been touring again since 2008.

With the music for the documentary Pakketur til paradis made his debut as a film composer in 1982. His big breakthrough was when he wrote the music for the action thriller Orion's Belt , directed by Ola Solum and Tristan DeVere Cole , together with Geir Bøhren . In the same year, both were awarded the Norwegian film prize Amanda for best music.
