Amanda (film award)

The Amanda is a film prize that is awarded annually on the occasion of the international Norwegian film festival in Haugesund , Norway . The award has existed since 1985 and was first awarded on August 17, 1985. The “Amanda” statuette presented at the gala is a 30 cm tall, 2.5 kg heavy sculpture created by the Norwegian sculptor Kristian Kvakland . The name of the award comes from Amanda von Haugesund, a legendary local woman from the 1920s.
