Lars Søndergaard (born April 5, 1959 in Aalborg ) is a Danish football coach and former football player .

He played for Aalborg BK throughout his career before a cruciate ligament rupture forced him to retire. Then he was a youth coach and later an assistant coach at his home club.

From 2000 Søndergaard was active as a coach in the Austrian Bundesliga . He was first assistant coach under Hans Backe and later coach of SV Austria Salzburg (2000-2003). In the 2004/05 season he was in charge of FK Austria Wien until he was given leave of absence by Frank Stronach. From January 2006 to June 2007 he was Walter Schachner's successor for the Grazer AK . In the 2007/08 season he coached the Austrian first division club FC Wacker Innsbruck until October 22, 2007 . From January 17, 2008 he was the coach of the FC Red Bull Salzburg junior team . In summer 2008 the Dane held the post of head of the Red Bull Salzburg football academy for one year. His contract was not renewed afterwards. He currently works as a coach at Viborg FF in the Danish second division.
