The SønderjyskE Fodbold is the football department of the Danish Sports Association Sønderjyske in Haderslev in South Denmark .

history

SønderjyskE is a 2004 merger of the five clubs Haderslev Fodboldklub , TM Tønder , Sønderjyske HK , Vojens BI and IK Sønderjylland . TM Tønder resigned in 2006; HF Sønderborg has taken its place.

This merger was intended to create the economic and sporting prerequisites for the development of a highly professional sports organization in the Syddanmark region . The medium-term goal was and is to become one of the top five teams in the country.

The first success came in the 2004/05 season: SønderjyskE won the championship in the Viasat Sport Division and rose to the top division, the Superliga . The young club had to leave this after only one year as the bottom of the table. In 2008, the leap back to the highest Danish league succeeded.

In the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, SønderjyskE held the class as tenth in the table. For the 2015/16 season Jakob Michelsen was signed as a new coach. With him, SønderjyskE was runner-up in the 2015/16 season and then threw out Strømsgodset IF and Zagłębie Lubin in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League before the club was eliminated in the final qualifying round with a late goal against Sparta Prague (0-0/2-3 ). In 2020 SønderjyskE Fodbold won the Danish Cup after beating Aalborg BK 2-0 in the final; it is the first title in the club's 16-year history.

In addition to football, SønderjyskE also operates handball and ice hockey . The different teams play their games in the entire Danish-German border region, for example in Haderslev , Tønder , Vojens , Aabenraa , Sønderborg and Gråsten .
