In Germany (2011-2014)

During the 2010/11 winter break, Ilsø was loaned to the then German second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf until the end of the 2010/11 season. He played his first game for Fortuna on January 23, 2011 at 2: 4 in the Berlin Olympiastadion against Hertha BSC , when he came on in the 83rd minute. On his home debut, Ilsø scored three goals against FSV Frankfurt a week later . Since he also proved to be accurate in the upcoming games, the Düsseldorf team took advantage of the purchase option negotiated in the loan agreement and secured the services of the Dane for a transfer fee of 300,000 euros for two more seasons. In the following season Ilsø rose to the Bundesliga with Fortuna after they had prevailed in the relegation against Hertha BSC.

On July 31, 2013 Ilsø moved to the second division VfL Bochum and signed a two-year contract there. He made his debut on matchday 4 in a 2-2 win against FC St. Pauli , and scored his first goal in a 4-2 win over SC Paderborn 07 with a 3-2 goal. On February 13, 2014, the association dissolved Ilsø's contract with immediate effect.
