Vojens Kommune (German: Kommune Woyens ) was a municipality in the Sønderjyllands Amt ( North Schleswig ) in southwestern Denmark .
history
The large commune was created in 1970 through the merger of the municipalities Hammelev (German: Hammeleff ), Jegerup (German: Jägerup ), Maugstrup (German: Magstrup ), Nustrup (German: Nübel ), Oksenvad (German: Oxenwatt ), Skrydstrup , Sommersted (German: Sommerstedt ), Vedsted (German: Wittstedt ) and Vojens (German: Woyens ), which was only separated from Jegerup in 1920 . Together with the municipalities of Gram and Haderslev (German: Hadersleben ) and the municipalities of Bevtoft (German: Beftoft ), Hjerndrup , Bjerning and Fjelstrup , the municipality of Vojens was absorbed into the new large municipality of Haderslev with over 60,000 inhabitants on January 1, 2007 .
Attractions
South of Vojens and north of Over Jerstal are the megalithic sites of Over Jerstal . There are two passage graves and two dolmens .
traffic
Vojens is on the Fredericia – Flensburg railway line , the former branch line to Haderslev was closed in 2004 and has been used by museum trains again since 2011 .
