The Haderslev Kommune is a Danish municipality in Region Syddanmark . It covers an area of ​​818.70 km² and has 55,670 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). Haderslev is the administrative seat and economic center of the municipality .

It was created with the Danish municipal reform on January 1, 2007 by merging the previous Haderslev municipality with Gram municipality and Vojens municipality as well as the parishes of Bevtoft Sogn ( Nørre-Rangstrup municipality ), Hjerndrup Sogn , Bjerning Sogn and Fjelstrup Sogn ( Christiansfeld municipality ) in the former Sønderjyllands Amt . A referendum in the Christiansfeld commune initially showed a majority in favor of the new Kolding commune . After a call from the arbitrator Thorkild Simonsen , further votes were held on June 16, 2005 on the basis of the parishes .

There is a German minority living in the municipality that has its own school, kindergarten and library and is currently represented by a representative on the municipal council.
