Svendborg Municipality is a Danish municipality in the southeast of the island of Funen . It was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of local government reform by merging the "old" Svendborg municipality with the previous municipalities Egebjerg and Gudme in Fyns Amt .

Svendborg Municipality has a total population of 58,296 inhabitants (January 1, 2020) and an area of ​​415.40 km². It is part of the Syddanmark region .
