Location of the Hesselager Sogn in Svendborg Municipality

Hesselager Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Fyn ( German : Funen ) in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Gudme Herred in what was then Svendborg Amt , then to Gudme Kommune in Fyns Amt , which was merged into Svendborg Municipality in the Syddanmark region on January 1, 2007 as part of the municipal reform .

1418 inhabitants live in the parish, 856 of them in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Hesselager Kirke", in which Denmark's oldest altarpiece is located.

Neighboring municipalities are Oure Sogn and / or Lundeborg Sogn ¹ in the south and Gudme Sogn in the south-west , furthermore in the neighboring Nyborg municipality to the north in the west Langå Sogn and Øksendrup Sogn and in the north Frørup Sogn and / or Tårup Sogn . ¹

¹ Since the exact boundaries of Tårup Sogn, which split off from Frørup Sogn on October 1, 2010, and Lundeborg Sogn, which split off from Oure Sogn, have not yet been announced, it is not yet possible to determine to which of the two the shared border with Hesselager Sogn heard, or whether both have a part in it.
