The region Syddanmark ( German Region Süddänemark ) in Denmark includes the south of Jutland , the island of Funen and the offshore smaller islands.

The administrative headquarters are in Vejle . The five Danish regions were created with the 2007 administrative structural reform .

Official statistics differentiate between two parts of the region ( Landsdele ): Landsdel Fyn east of the Little Belt and Landsdel Sydjylland west of the Little Belt.

Former administrative structure

From 1970 to 2007 the districts of Fyns Amt , Ribe Amt and Sønderjyllands Amt as well as the former municipalities of Børkop Kommune , Egtved Kommune , Fredericia Kommune , Give Kommune , Jelling Kommune , Kolding Kommune , Lunderskov Kommune , Vamdrup Kommune and Vejle Kommune were in the Syddanmark region from 1970 to 2007 .

economy

In comparison with the gross domestic product of the European Union, expressed in purchasing power standards , the region achieved an index of 115 (EU-25: 100) in 2015, significantly lower than the Danish average of 127 but above the EU average. Overall, a GDP of 52.5 billion euros was generated.

In 2017 the unemployment rate was 6.1%.
