Carl Holst

Carl Holst (born April 29, 1970 in Rødding ) is a Danish politician of the Venstre party and was briefly Minister of Defense and Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the Lars Løkke Rasmussen II government in 2015 .

Life

Holst completed his teacher training in 1996 and worked in this profession at a primary school in Vojens until 2000 .

He became politically active at an early age and was chairman of the youth organization of the Venstre party from 1993 to 1995. From 2000 to 2007 he was district administrator in Sønderjyllands Amt , after its dissolution he was at the head of the newly created region of Syddanmark . Since 2010 he has been a member of the Venstre party executive committee. In 2015 he was elected to parliament in the constituency of Sydjyllands Storkreds and appointed Minister for Defense and Nordic Cooperation by Lars Løkke Rasmussen . He was forced to resign on September 30, 2015 because an employee of the regional administration was illegally involved in Holst's election campaign. After further irregularities had been discovered and the Region Syddanmark had filed a complaint, Holst took a leave of absence on November 25, 2015 from exercising his parliamentary mandate.

Private

Holst is married to Lone Holst and has three children.
