Peter Christensen (born April 23, 1975 in Sønderborg ) is a Danish politician of the Venstre party and was Minister of Defense and Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the Lars Løkke Rasmussen II government since September 2015 .

Life

After training as an electrician , Peter Christensen began to be politically active in the Venstre party and was a member of the executive committee from 1997 to 2001 and also chairman of the party's youth organization from 1999 to 2001. He began his parliamentary career in the Folketing in 2001 as a Member of Parliament for South Jutland , from 2011 to 2013 he was Minister of Finance, and he also held several spokesman posts for his party, such as those for tax issues (2001-2005) and finance (2005-2009, 2011 –2015) and for political affairs (2009–2011). In the area of ​​finance and taxes, he sat on the associated parliamentary committees.

On September 30, 2015, he was appointed Defense Minister and Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the government of Lars Løkke Rasmussen, succeeding Carl Holst , who resigned after uncovering irregularities during the 2015 election campaign.
