Thor Pedersen Möger

Thor Möger Pedersen (born January 31, 1985 in Valby ) is a Danish politician . From October 3, 2011 to October 16, 2012, he was Minister for Taxation for the Socialistisk Folkeparti (SF) in the government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt . He has been a social democrat since June 27, 2013 .

Life

The son of manager Torben Möger Pedersen graduated from Frederiksborg Gymnasium in 2004 and then began studying political science at the University of Copenhagen . He then continued to be involved in the Danske Gymnasieelevers Sammenslutning (DGS), the association of high school students. In 2005 he was first head of the secretariat of the youth organization of the SF ( Socialistisk Folkepartis Ungdom , SFU) and was then a member of the executive committee of the organization from 2006 to 2007. Afterwards he was appointed campaign coordinator in the SF Secretariat. In this role he organized the SF election campaign under chairman Villy Søvndal in the 2007 Folketing election .

At the SF party convention in April 2010, Möger Pedersen, who was just 25, was elected vice chairman of the party. In the 2011 Folketing election , he ran for a mandate in the Folketing , but received only 700 personal votes and thus no seat in parliament.

On October 3, 2011, Prime Minister Thorning-Schmidt appointed him Minister for Taxes in the newly formed government of Denmark. At 26, he was Denmark's youngest minister to date.

Möger Pedersen lives with the politician Nanna Westerby, the couple have one child. Westerby was from 2007 to 2008 chairwoman of the socialist youth party SFU. His younger sister Gry Möger Poulsen was also chairwoman of the SFU from 2011, and in 2013, like her brother, switched to the Social Democrats.
