Svend Jakobsen

Svend Aage Jakobsen (born November 1, 1935 in Ulsted ) is a former Danish manager and politician of the Social Democrats who was minister several times between 1973 and 1981 and President of the Folketing from 1981 to 1989 .

Life

MP and Minister

Jakobsen after attending the elementary school in agriculture , before a lesson in the 1952 Cooperative Kongerslev in Himmerland began and after graduation as a clerk in the office of the cooperative in 1955-1959 Åbyhøj worked. In 1960 he became a consultant at the headquarters of the Association of Cooperatives ( Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger ) in Copenhagen, where he dealt with various economic policy issues until 1971.

In the mid-1960s Jakobsen began his political work in the Social Democrats and was a member of the executive committee of the party in Tåstrup between 1966 and 1970 and its chairman since 1968. In the election of September 21, 1971 , he was elected for the first time as a member of the Folketing and represented the constituency of Copenhagen-Glostrup until his resignation in 1989 .

In September 1973 Jakobsen was appointed by Prime Minister Anker Jørgensen as Minister for Housing ( Boligminister ) in his first government and was a member of this until the end of Jørgensen's term of office on December 19, 1973.

After Jørgensen became Prime Minister again on February 13, 1975 and was able to form his second government , Jakobsen was appointed by him as the first Danish Minister of Taxes and Fees ( Skatte- og Afgiftsminister ) and held this ministerial office until his replacement by Jens Kampmann on February 26 1977. During this time, he was no longer able to finally implement a tax and interest reform that he intended. At the same time he also acted as Minister for Housing ( Boligminister ) and Environment Minister ( Miljøminister ) between January 26 and February 26, 1977 .

In the Folketing election of February 15, 1977 , the Social Democrats won a majority, so that on February 26, 1976, Anker Jørgensen was able to form his third government . In this Jakobsen first took over the post of Minister for Fisheries ( Fiskeriminister ) before he succeeded by on October 26, 1979 Knud Heinesen Finance ( finance minister ) was. He held this ministerial post for a little more than two years until Heinesen replaced him on December 30, 1981.

President of Parliament and Manager

Jakobsen was already the successor to Knud Børge Andersen as President of the Folketing on December 22, 1981 and held the office of President of Parliament until December 10, 1989. He was succeeded by Erik Ninn-Hansen from Det Conservative Folkeparti . During this time, between 1982 and 1989, he was also a member of the board of the Nordic Cultural Fund ( Nordisk Kulturfond ) and was also chairman of the Foundation for Danish-Norwegian Cooperation.

Jakobsen then withdrew from active political life and was initially director of the Danish Savings Banks Association ( Danmarks Sparekasseforening ) in 1989 . He then acted from 1990 to 1994 as Administrative Director of the Finance Council ( Finansrådet ), the lobby group for Danish financial institutions. He was then President of the Society for the Fight against Cancer ( Kræftens Bekæmpelse ) from 1993 to 2001 and Chairman of the Council for Vocational Education and Training ( Erhvervsuddannelsesrådet ) between 1994 and 2000 .
