Kirsten Brosbøl (born December 14, 1977 in Odder ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats . From 2014 to 2015 she was Danish Environment Minister .

Life

Brosbøl grew up as the daughter of a nurse and a craftsman in Odder. After graduating from high school in 1996, she studied politics at Roskilde Universitet and at the University of Sussex in Brighton until she obtained the degree Cand.scient.soc .

From 2001 she worked as a student assistant for the social democratic folk group . From 2004 to 2005 she was political advisor to the Danish Social Democrats in the European Parliament. In 2004 she ran for the first time in the constituency of Skanderborg for the Folketing.

Brosbøl has been a Member of the Folketing since 2005, initially for the Aarhus constituency and since 2007 for the Østjylland constituency.

After the People's Socialists left the government in February 2014, she was appointed Environment Minister to succeed Ida Aukens .

Brosbøl was in a relationship with the current Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen between 2005 and 2007 . Today she lives with her partner and their son near Aarhus.
