Ivar Nørgaard

Ivar Nørgaard (born July 26, 1922 in Lyngby ; † November 3, 2011 ) was a Danish social democratic politician .

Life

Ivar Nørgaard was a member of the Folketing from 1966 to 1994 , where he represented the interests of the Social Democrats . There he was chairman of the European Committee from 1990 to 1994.

From 1965 to 1968 he was Minister of Economic Affairs and Minister for European Market Affairs (1967 to 1968) in the cabinet of Jens Otto Krag . In his second government he was Minister for Foreign Trade, European Market Affairs and Nordic Affairs from 1971 to 1972.

From 1972 to 1977 he was again Minister for Foreign Trade, European Market Affairs and Nordic Affairs in the cabinets of Krag's successor, Anker Jørgensen . In this capacity he was also President of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 1973 .

He was then Environment Minister (1978 to 1980) and at the same time Minister of Economics (1979 to 1982). From 1985 to 1991 Nørgaard was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .
