Jakob Ellemann-Jensen (born September 25, 1973 ) is a Danish politician from Venstre . He has been chairman of his party since September 21, 2019. From 2018 to 2019 he was Danish Environment Minister .

Life

Jakob Ellemann-Jensen is a son of the former Danish Foreign Minister and Venstre Chairman Uffe Ellemann-Jensen and the journalist Alice Vestergaard . His older sister Karen Ellemann was most recently Minister for Equality and Nordic Cooperation; she was also Minister of the Environment. The grandfather of the siblings is Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen .

From 1992 to 1994 Ellemann-Jensen served as a conscript in the Royal Life Guard . He then served until 1996 as a lieutenant in the Sjællandske Livregiment . From 1996 to 1999 Ellemann-Jensen served as Prime Lieutenant in the international brigade . He then served as a captain in the Danish battalion in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 2000.

In 2002 Ellemann-Jensen received his degree as cand.jur.merc. at Copenhagen Business School . He then worked as a legal advisor at PwC Consulting A / S until 2002, then as a lawyer at IBM Danmark A / S and then as a department head until 2007 and then until 2011 as a corporate lawyer at GN Store Nord A / S. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Folketing . There he was a member of the committees on Europe, Finance, Defense, Faroe Islands , Rules of Procedure and Foreign Affairs . On May 2, 2018, he succeeded Esben Lunde Larsen as Environment Minister in the Løkke Rasmussen III cabinet .
