Knud Kristensen
Knud Kristensen (born October 26, 1880 in Hover near Ringkøbing , † September 28, 1962 in Humlebæk / Fredensborg Municipality ) was a Danish politician of the liberal Venstre .
Life
During the German occupation of Denmark , Kristensen was Danish Minister of the Interior from July 8, 1940 to November 9, 1942 . He held this office after the liberation from May 5, 1945 to November 7, 1945. Then he rose to prime minister . He held this office until November 13, 1947.
After the German defeat, Kristensen campaigned for the integration of South Schleswig into the Danish state association. The British military governor of Schleswig-Holstein, Hugh Vivian Champion de Crespigny , clearly rejected Kristensen's performances for southern Schleswig-Holstein . Parts of the Danish press attributed this failure, to Crespignie's annoyance, to an overly independent policy of the German administration in Schleswig-Holstein. The Kristensen government was overthrown on October 4, 1947, following a motion of no confidence in parliament related to the southern Schleswig question . After further political differences, mainly in protest against the constitutional reform of 1953 , he left Venstre and founded the De Uafhængige party , of which he remained chairman until 1956.
