Uffe Ellemann-Jensen
Uffe Ellemann-Jensen (born November 1, 1941 in Haarby , Assens ) is a Danish politician of the liberal Venstre and former foreign minister.
Life
Uffe Ellemann-Jensen studied political science at the University of Copenhagen . Before graduating in 1969, he began working as a journalist in 1967 , first for Berlingske Aftenavis , then for Danmarks Radio . Among other things, he presented here as a presenter the election program of Danish television about the dramatic Folketing election 1973 . In 1975 he became editor-in-chief at Dagbladet Børsen for a year .
In 1977 he was first elected to parliament for Venstre in Århus . From 1984 to 1998 Ellemann-Jensen was party chairman. For eleven years he was foreign minister in the conservatively led government of Poul Schlueter . From 1995 to 2000 he was the head of the European liberals .
Ellemann-Jensen is a supporter of the European Union and NATO . His children, Karen and Jakob, are also Venstre members and were also ministers.
