The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Asiatisk Plads

The Udenrigsministeriet is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark . It is based on Asiatisk Plads in the capital Copenhagen and has been headed by Jeppe Kofod ( Social Democrats ) in the Frederiksen cabinet since June 27, 2019 . Co-head of the ministry is the Minister for Nordic Cooperation, this office has been held by Mogens Jensen (Socialdemokraterne) since June 27, 2019 . The ministry employs 1,350 people, 500 of them abroad. Its budget is 1.5 billion crowns (201 million euros).

In 1770 the Departementet for de Udenlandske Anliggender (Department of Foreign Affairs) was founded by royal decree. This was replaced in 1848 by the Udenrigsministeriet as part of the March Ministry . The first foreign minister was Frederik Marcus Knuth .

Together with 78 embassies and a number of missions and consulates, the Foreign Ministry forms the Foreign Service. In addition, since 2000 the trade offices have also been headed by the Foreign Ministry.
