Harald Scavenius
Harald Scavenius (born May 27, 1873 in Gjorslev , † April 22, 1939 in The Hague ) was a Danish diplomat and foreign minister in the Neergaard II cabinet .
Life
Scavenius came from the noble family Scavenius , his father was the minister of education Jacob Scavenius . Scavenius graduated from school in 1892 and became mag.art in 1890. in French. In 1900 he was employed in the Foreign Ministry and in 1904 was sent to St. Petersburg as Legation Secretary , in 1909 to Paris and in 1911 to London as Legation Councilor. Abroad his interest in the social question grew. Scavenius was friendly towards the moderate labor movement, but critical of Marxist theory. In 1912 he was appointed envoy to Russia. On May 5, 1920, he replaced Otto Christian Scavenius and became Foreign Minister in the Neergard II cabinet. On October 9, 1922, CMT Cold replaced him . In 1923 Scavenius became envoy in Rome , in 1928 in Bern and The Hague.
