Lene Espersen (born September 26, 1965 in Hirtshals ) is a Danish politician of the Conservative People's Party . She was the Foreign Minister of Denmark from 2010 to 2011 .

Life

Lene Espersen attended the Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific in Canada from 1982 to 1984 and then studied economics at Aarhus University . There she completed her master's degree in 1990.

Espersen has been a member of the Danish Parliament since 1994. In 2001, she became Danish Minister of Justice in the cabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen . On September 9, 2008, she was elected as the successor to Bendt Bendtsen as party chairwoman and succeeded him as Minister of Economic Affairs . As part of a cabinet reshuffle was on 23 February 2010 as the successor of Per Stig Møller to Secretary appointed. On January 13, 2011, she resigned from party leadership after the party base had made her responsible for the significant decline in the conservatives' favor. Lars Barfoed was her successor . After the change of government in October 2011, she was replaced as Foreign Minister by Villy Søvndal . Since December 1st 2014 she has been the director of the Association of Danish Architects (Danske Ark).

It was in May 2015 Russia with a travel ban occupied.

Lene Espersen is married and has two sons.
