Holger K. Nielsen
Holger Kirkholm Nielsen (born April 23, 1950 in Ribe ) is a Danish politician of the Socialist People's Party (SF).
Life
Nielsen is a studied Danist and social scientist. From 1979 to 1981 he was Secretary in the EU Parliament and Head of Department in the Ministry of Energy 1981 and 1984 to 1987. 1981 to 1984 and since 1987 Nielsen Folketing was a member of the SF. In 1991 he was elected party chairman in a ballot with Steen Gade as the opposing candidate. In 2005 he handed over the chairmanship to Villy Søvndal .
Nielsen was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Folketing and a member of the parliamentary presidium from 2007 to 2012. He was also spokesman for his party's defense, media and Faroe Islands affairs. From October 16, 2012 to December 12, 2013, Nielsen was Tax Minister in the Thorning-Schmidt I cabinet . On December 12, 2013, Nielsen became foreign minister after a ministerial rogue connected with Annette Vilhelmsen's resignation as chairwoman of the SF .
