Peter Brixtofte (born December 11, 1949 in Copenhagen , † November 8, 2016 in Farum ) was a Danish politician.

Life

As cand.polit. Brixtofte became an EC employee of the Venstre regional organization in 1972 . from 1979 to 1979 he was a business journalist at Dagbladet Børsen . 1973 to 1977, 1979 to 1981 and 1990 to 2005 Brixtofte was a member of the Folketing . In 1978 Brixtofte was elected to the local council of Farum and in 1985 he became mayor of the municipality.

From November 1992 to January 1993 he was tax minister in the Cabinet Schlüter IV . In 2002, Brixtofte was expelled from his party because of his role as the main character in the Farum scandal . Brixtofte was found guilty of embezzlement in four cases by both the District Court and the Regional Court, and in 2008 the Højesteret upheld the judgments.

From 2005 he was a member of the local council of Furesø , in the same year he founded Velfærdsparti .
