Svend Erik Hovmand (born December 8, 1945 in Slemminge ) is a Danish politician .

Life

Hovmand is the son of the landowner Johannes Hovmand and his wife Gunnild. He is a trained engineer and trained carpenter. He worked as a journalist in the 1960s and 1970s.

From 1974 to 2007 Hovmand Venstre was a candidate for the Folketing in Nykøbing Falster , from 1975 also a member of parliament. On March 12, 1986, he replaced Knud Enggaard in the Schlueter I cabinet as energy minister and remained so in the Schlueter II cabinet , which ended on June 3, 1988.

From December 18, 1990 to January 25, 1993 he was Minister of Housing and from November 27, 2001 to August 2, 2004 Minister of Taxation in the Fogh Rasmussen I cabinet .
