Benny Engelbrecht

Benny Engelbrecht (born August 4, 1970 in Amager , Copenhagen ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats and Danish Transport Minister since June 27, 2019 .

Life

Engelbrecht is the son of a typesetter. He was born on the part of the island Amager belonging to Copenhagen, where he also grew up.

Since November 13, 2007 Engelbrecht has been a member of the Social Democrats in the Folketing as the representative of the South Jutland Storkreds . From 2007 to 2014 he was a member of his party's parliamentary group. From 2008 to 2011 he was the consumer spokesman for his parliamentary group, from 2011 to 2014 he was a spokesman for trade and in 2011 the EU spokesman. Since 2015 he has been vice chairman of the finance committee and spokesman for his finance group and Tingsekretær.

On September 2, 2014 Engelbrecht replaced Morten Østergaard as Tax Minister in the Thorning-Schmidt II cabinet and remained in this post until June 28, 2015, the end of this cabinet. He was followed by Karsten Lauritzen after.
