Ministeriet for Familie- og Forbrugeranliggender

The Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs ( Danish Ministeriet for Familie- og Forbrugeranliggender ) was a Danish ministry. It was created in August 2004 and disbanded three years later. The ministry was responsible for family policy, consumer protection and food control.

The ministry's work primarily concerned the areas of consumer protection, food safety and the promotion of children, families and young people, e. B. in the areas of youth welfare, custody, adoption, marriage and divorce law.

structure

Three authorities were subordinate to the Ministry:

  • Family authority (Familiestyrelsen) - currently (2012) part of the complaints authority (Ankestyrelsen) in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration
  • Consumer Protection Authority (Forbrugerstyrelsen) - currently part of the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (Konbewerbence- og forbrugerstyrelsen) in the Ministry of Industry and Growth
  • Food Authority (Fødevarestyrelsen) - currently part of the Environment and Food Ministry

The ministry was dissolved after the 2007 general election . A number of scandals surrounding ineffective food control were decisive. A report by the Court of Auditors did not spare criticism of the role of the ministry, which led to Lars Barfoed's resignation.
