Mogens Jensen (born October 31, 1963 in Nykøbing Mors ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats . From 2014 to 2015 he was Minister for Trade and Development and since June 2019 he has been Minister for Food, Fisheries , Equality and Nordic Cooperation .

Life

Jensen worked from 1987 to 2005 as a consultant for the Landsorganisation i Danmark (LO) trade union federation . In the 1990s he appeared on radio and television broadcasts as an impersonator of the then Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen . In February 2005 he was elected to the Danish parliament, the Folketing , for the first time , where he initially represented the constituency of Ringkøbing . In 2007 he moved to the Herning- Süd district, for which he has always been a candidate since then. From 2011 to 2012 he was parliamentary group leader of his party in the Folketing. In 2012 he was elected Vice Chairman of the Social Democrats, a post he has held since then.

In February 2014, Mogens Jensen became Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation in the Thorning-Schmidt government . After this government lost its majority in the 2015 election, he returned to parliament as a simple MP. On June 27, 2019, he was appointed Minister for Food, Fisheries, Equality and Nordic Cooperation in the Frederiksen government.
