Carsten Mogens Hansen (* 10. January 1957 in Odense ) is a Danish politician of Socialdemokraterne (Dan. Socialists) and was 3 October 2011 as minister of cities, housing and rural areas in the first government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt called . In the Thorning-Schmidt II government he is also responsible for Nordic cooperation.

Life

After attending school, the son of a worker and a domestic helper completed vocational training as a heating, air conditioning and sanitation technician and then worked as a fitter, since 1989 as a foreman .

After he had run unsuccessfully for a seat in the Folketing in the constituency of Odense Sydkreds in 1995 , he was elected for the first time as a member of the Folketing on March 11, 1998 in the constituency of Fyns Amtskreds . In 2006 he was promoted to chairman of his group . In the 2007 Folketing election , he successfully ran in the constituency of Fyns Storkreds . On October 1, 2010, he was appointed state auditor for a four-year term.

On October 3, 2010, Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt appointed him Minister for Cities, Housing and Rural Areas in her government. On February 3, 2014 he was also given responsibility for Nordic Cooperation.

Hansen, who is also vice-chairman of the Workers' Education Association (Arbejdernes Oplysningsforbund), is also a member of the board of directors of the Odense Technical School and Nørre Åby Efterskole.
